In this brief article, you will learn 8 signs the job interview went well.

If you have just finished your interview and you want to know what the signs are that you could be about to get hired. Also, if you are just curious as to what generally indicates an interview has gone well, then the right information you need is in this article.

8 Signs The Job Interview Went Well

Below are 8 signs your job interview has gone well:

  1. If you were in the interview for longer than expected.

The truth is, the majority of hiring managers will cut an interview short, if they get an indication early on that they are not going to hire you.

It’s pointless than wasting their time and yours if they realize at the start of the interview you are not going to be a good fit for their team. So if you have been in an interview for a lengthy period of time, it’s definitely a good sign.

  1. If you had a good rapport with the interviewer.

If you felt the interview was conversational and you had a good connection with the interviewer, it’s generally a sign that things have gone well.

Also, if the interviewer smiled a lot during the interview, it’s a good indication that they see you as a potential fit for their team.

  1. If they introduce you to the team or they talk about the team during the interview.

An interviewer will only usually introduce a candidate to their team if they are serious about hiring them. Because after all, if the interview has not gone well, why would they bother wasting their time, your time and their team’s time if you are not a good fit for the role?

So if you got introduced to their team, it’s definitely a good sign.

  1. If they answer any questions you asked at the end of the interview in detail.

Picture the scene – It’s the end of the interview and they say to you, do you have any questions for us?

You ask several questions, but they don’t really answer them fully. This usually means they don’t have the time to answer your questions properly because they want to move on to the next candidate.

However, if they have taken their time to answer your questions in detail, it could be a sign you’re about to get hired.

  1. If they ask you about any holidays or time off you have coming up soon.

Whilst this is definitely a positive indication the hiring manager is considering you for the position, it can also put them off if you have lots of holiday coming up soon.

They generally ask this question because they want someone to get up and running in the role quickly.

  1. If they ask you the ‘Salary Expectations Interview’ Question.

An interviewer will only usually ask a candidate what their salary expectations are if they are serious about taking them on in the role.

The Salary Expectations question is more of a negotiation and it’s pointless them asking you this question if they aren’t interested in hiring you.

  1. If they tell you in detail what you will be doing in the role.

An interviewer that tells a candidate what they will be doing in the position has clearly visualized them in the role.

For example, if they say to you during the interview, “you will be expected to do XYZ in this role”, as opposed to “the successful candidate will be expected to do XYZ in the role”, then it’s generally a positive indication that they are considering hiring you.

  1. If they ask you about your availability and when you can start work.

If an interviewer asks what notice period you have to give, or if they ask when you can start work, it’s definitely a positive sign they want to offer you the job.

Those are 8 signs to indicate that a job interview has gone really well.
